Today we had the pleasure of meeting McKenna Marsh, assistant professor of Hospitality, Management and Tourism, and her class HMT 1000, Introductory to Hospitality.
It was an amazing experience for me, Angela Price (Manager of Natchitoches Bed and Breakfast) and Zeffie Smith (Judge Porter House Innkeeper).
Our presentation to the class covered all aspects of the Bed and Breakfast business from my background and how I got into the industry, to how we manage multiple locations to staffing and their day-to-day responsibilities.
We also discussed the importance of marketing and our goal of keeping all guests satisfied so that they will become repeat guests.
After the presentation, I gave a brief History of the Judge Porter House followed by a tour of the Bed and Breakfast.
Thanks to Laura Lyles, president of the Natchitoches Chamber of Commerce for making the introduction between Mckenna and I. Mckenna and have now partnered to work together to conduct a NSU field trip every semester.
